A Confederate flag with links to President Abraham Lincoln and the first Union officer killed in the Civil War will be the centerpiece of an exhibit featuring New York’s large collection of banners from the conflict, state officials said Thursday.

A boon for digital DIYers, 3D printers, which print an actual prototype based on cross-sections from a digital file, are a central part of both the new maker’s garage toolkit and larger manufacturers’ prototype testing processes. These printers translate digital files into “real” elements to create objects that can be used in small- and large-scale manufacturing projects.

The San Francisco chapter of AIGA is out to celebrate the efforts of designers and organizations who aim to positively impact our society with Cause/Affect.
